Why should you meditate regularly?

Meditation and the workplace

I started developing a meditation practice in 2001. At that time, I was co-founder and CTO at a venture funded startup called Intelliseek, which was later acquired by Nielsen. As a rational-skeptic and an intellectual, I was thrust into a new realm of experiences that opened me to understanding the depths of human potential. I couldn't talk about these experiences in my workplace, even during periods of idle chatting. Meditation and healing was all woo-woo stuff meant for hippies and new-agers, not for the buttoned-up professional that I was supposed to be. I kept my profoundly transformative experiences to myself. My colleagues knew that "Sundar is into some deep stuff," but that's about it.

I compartmentalized life along two tracks - the professional track where I was the creative, accomplished CTO, and the personal tracks where I invested in my meditation and other practices. Tech entrepreneur by day, meditator and healer by night.

From time to time, the effects of my consistent meditation and related practices would spill into the workplace. Here is one example. A colleague knocked on my office door and walked in, wanting to sit with me for a few minutes. They poured their heart out, not because I prompted them to, but because the space of my presence was a safe space for them. After a few minutes, they left the room remarking, "I don't know what it is about you, but just talking to you brings me great peace. Thank you."

How can this happen? How can someone sit in your presence and walk away feeling peaceful and serene? There is a great specialness within you. I call this "your inner power". Inner peace is your inner power. A steady meditation practice connects you with this inner power and unleashes it into your life. Others can experience this in your presence too.

Inner peace is your inner power.

Thankfully, it is no longer taboo to talk about meditation in business and professional circles. In fact, in the last few years, in many organizations, mindfulness and meditation have been embraced in the workplace because of their innumerable wellness benefits.

The many benefits of meditation

From my personal experience, there are many reasons why you should meditate regularly:

  • If you wish to combat stress, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to be free from fear, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to beat worries and anxieties, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to be free from anger and judgments, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to experience ease and peace, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to be the best form of yourself, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to be loving and compassionate, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to have strong relationships with others, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to experience courage and strength, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to develop clarity and wisdom, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to unleash creativity, meditate regularly.
  • If you wish to be more mindful, meditate regularly.

You should meditate regularly to experience peace, contentment, love, abundance, and freedom, regardless of external situations or events.

Real success in life comes from being able to make wise decisions and take powerful actions. In turn, this needs clarity and wisdom, courage and strength, creativity and compassion - all of which are unleashed through a regular practice of cultivating silence.

Cultivate inner peace and unleash the ingredients of success into your life.

Meditation isn't an escape from life's ills and troubles. Yes, it relieves stress, worries, and anxieties. Meditation is a way to connect with your inner peace, anchor in it, and unleash its power into your daily life. Meditation is a way to connect with the deeper aspects of yourself that you overlook. Steady meditation is the way of embracing all of your potential and being the real YOU.

Steady meditation practice enables you to embrace all of your potential.
